Rudimentary Structures
This collection of furniture, made in collaboration with EB-BA architects, is based on rudimentary structures borrowed from architecture.
The repetition of the same basic components across different pieces aims to create slender frame-like assemblies, analogous to those used in large scale construction.
The strong visual impact of these structures is reinforced by a mix of textures and materials such as scorched wood and white washed timber, complemented by finer details in raw steel and woven Danish cord.
EB-BA’s director Benni Allan and Junca’s fascination with the sculptural potential of furniture stems from their interests in making and the built environment, a direct influence of their experiences of growing up in Spain and Argentina respectively.
